Steady, well planned growth of our firm, has enabled ANA to meet increasing workload demands while implementing technological advances. Experienced, well-trained, versatile crews and office personnel are keys to providing quality products and services to our clients. Workload for the surveying and mapping industry can vary substantially in a short time span. ANA has a wide range of clients and can move crews and staff between offices. ANA has found that this helps maintain a better flow of work and helps keep a low turnover of staff. Field Survey Crews must also have of a wide range of skills and knowledge of GPS, TDS, EFB, CAiCE and client standards and procedures.
ANA has developed an in-house training program to cross-train surveyors on diverse equipment and software packages. Field Survey Crews are also trained to maintain good public relations with property owners as well as highway users. ANA has nineteen (19) employees which run EFB in the field, three (3) that run CAiCE and five (5) which process EFB Data collected in the field. All survey office staff has also performed fieldwork in the past, which ensures the highest level of comprehension of all project requirements.
MAPPING CAPABILITY
GPS Surveying
ANA has provided control surveys for the past twenty years starting in the Leon County area including providing crews, setting the control points and making point observations for the original Leon County G.P.S. Control Network by Hobbs & Associates in 1988.
ANA has worked with NGS on the recent adjustment to the Florida HARN network proving the observation data.
ANA currently has completed the Gadsden and Calhoun Counties 1st order control projects that were “Blue Booked” by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) and is updating the Leon County control network.
ANA has continuously used GPS in the Leon County area for the past eight (8) years. This has allowed
ANA to build a database of usable control that can be used for GPS control and provide state plane coordinates on many existing land corners, centerlines of road, section corners and property corners.
ANA has also tied many of its survey projects in the North Florida area to State Plane Coordinate Control Points and to the North American Vertical Datum (NAVD). The points are used as part of our Quality Control Plan by providing additional coordinate control data to many new projects at minimal costs.
Data Collection
ANA was one of the first North Florida surveying and engineering firms to integrate Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) technology into conventional surveying and engineering projects in early 1986. Seeing the many benefits of this technology,
ANA restructured its surveying focus to capture field survey data in digital format for CADD based mapping. With the natural growth to GIS systems,
ANA has continued to provide GIS and related services to their clients. As a result
ANA has in-house GIS capabilities for acquisition of data and the expertise to process data in AutoCAD, Intergraph and ARCinfo software and convert this data to other standard GIS data formats.
ANA offers a full range of surveying and data services including: GPS collection of data, land and facilities record conversion for municipalities and state agencies.
ANA is currently running Husky FS/2 Data Collectors with both the Electronic Field Book (EFB) program used by FDOT and TDS software that is used by most private firms, Leica total stations, Leica dual frequency GPS receivers with real-time kinematic, Trimble 4600 L1 GPS receivers, Leica GS50 GPS units with radio beacon receiver for wetland and GIS mapping and Leica electronic levels. ANA runs a number of software programs for the processing of data and for the output files. Most data would be processed utilizing AutoCAD Land Development Desktop, EFB, CAiCE, Heintz’s EFPB least squares processor, MicroStation and Geopak. GPS data is processed with Leica Ski Pro software or Trimble GPSurvey software.
